Recent claims that Pioneer is planning to get out of sub-46in plasma panel production in favour of sourcing them through a third-party may have only been the start of things. It’s now being said that the company is finalising plans to outsource the whole lot.

Looks like Pioneer is making final preparations to convert from an electronics manufacturer to retailer. WHy bother putting any time and effort into research and development when you can get someone else to do it for you, buy their final product and sell it on for an easier profit.

I used to own a Pioneer concept separates system, and I loved it. It may have been a lot more expensive that it’s competitors (£1000+) but the build quality, audio quality, functionality and ease of use outstripped all of its competitors too. Well worth the money!

Pioneer plan to outsource all of their plasma screens (previously just sub 46 inch) to Matsushita Electric Industries (owner of the Panasonic brand) or Hitachi.
